So you have your smart home automation up and running, now it’s time to really expand using a Zwave mesh network! Zwave is a low-energy wireless protocol that is very common with home automation devices and makes up a large part of the IOT marketplace.
Hubs like SmartThings, Wink and Vera have built in Zwave receivers while open source solutions like openHAB and Home Assistant can easy add it using a Z-Wave receiver such as the Aeotec Generation 5 USB stick.
Setting up Z-Wave in openHAB 2 is super simple and can be done using the “Paper” web UI (this is the default interface in openHAB2). Check out and follow our video to get your smart devices up and running quick.
